Neil Lauder took his first ever win in the third cat race in the Crits in the Park at the Cyclopark, riding it in a great fashion. He rode the whole race at the front, going early in the sprint and holding it until the line to take victory.
In the fourth cat race at the Crits in the Park, Aaron Hughes took a fine ninth place to get his first ever BC points! Again he rode the race at the front but just ran out of legs in the sprint but still, a great ninth place.
Dave Martin stayed with the main field up to the last couple of laps well done!In the same race Chris Cook finished in the bunch, looked like he may take the victory in the sprint after going very early but just didn't have it in the legs but still in amongst it.
Tom Barnes was also in the race and he managed to hold on for about half the race, which was great for his first race, and it all adds to the experience.
In the 2s, 3s and 4s race we have Oliver Reeves, Ian Vagg and riding his second race of the day, Neil Lauder. Oliver got involved in the race straight from the off and looked strong throughout as did Neil and Ian. Unfortunately for Ian the sole of his shoe departed from the rest of his shoe which lost him a good placing in the race. Oliver finished 11th and Neil finished in the bunch with Ian closely behind with one shoe!
Fowlmead Under 14s
Fantastic racing by club members Nate and Ella on Sunday at Fowlmead. The under 14s race started with both riders in the main bunch, that mainly stayed together for the duration of the race. Nate made multiple attempts for a break off the front but with the group working together it was hard sustain. Ella finished just off the back of the group after the bunch sprint for the line and finished in 8th place and second girl. Nate finished in 7th place, these are amazing results from both riders! They look to get some great results over the course of the year!
Fowlmead- 2/3/4 Cat Racing
Oliver Reeves, Mark Oldfield, Ian Jones and Ian Vagg all racing in the Thanet RC Spring Circuit Races last weekend and all took some fantastic results.Oliver Reeves finished in a well earned 3rd place by riding up to the two man break! Ian Jones finished in 10th place in the final sprint and Mark finished in 17th and Ian Vagg in 30th. Great results all round!
Lee Valley- Josie
Josie Kelly took third in the race at Lee Valley last weekend in a field of 8 female riders. Fantastic result and some well earned prize money!
47 riders took the start line at the LVRC 40-60 year old crit on Sunday 3rd Apr at the Velopark road circuit. A quick race at 25.3mph average with 2 groups of two getting away. Lee Sayers finished in the main bunch 5th B overall with Anthony Wallis taking the win. There is now an 8 week break in LVRC crits before they come thick and fast from 5th June where us over 40s really should mount a concerted effort. With membership at £20 including excellent third party insurance and races only £10, what's not to like!
Florence Collins raced at Longcross last weekend and finished in around 10th position. A brilliant result, particularly for the first race of the season.
Some great results all round!
